  • How to pot Lucky Bamboo in Crystal Soil

A customer recently asked me how long can she expect her Lucky Bamboo to stand in crystal soil alias Magic soil before rehydrating them as she does not want to endanger the bamboo by letting crystal soil become too dehydrated. Here is the response i gave her to help others who have the same question.

It is possible to leave Lucky Bambo in Crystal Soil for up to 30 days and perhaps even more depending on the temperature of the room. the warmer the room the more water will evaporate from crystal soil.Another factor that will decrease the size of crystal soil is the thirst of the plant. However, lucky bamboo does not need much water but it must be kept moist all the time. this is easily down with crystal Soil as it will release water to the plant when needed and will always keep the lucky bamboo in moist condition.

In a regular potting environment water in bamboo should be changed every 3-4 weeks which is purely to avoid slight a slight odour caused by standing water. This is however not a problem with Crystal soil as when you use crystal soil to pot lucky bamboo or any other plant water does not stand in the vase but is released by Crystal Soil when required.

My advise therefore is to keep the bamboo in crystal soil until the bamboo can no longer stand which will be the case if crystal soil have reduced to a size that can nolonger keep the bamboo upright.
